British actor JOSEPH FIENNES has dismissed rumours he is set to become a first-time father – insisting his new wife is not pregnant.
The Shakespeare In Love star, 39, married Swiss model, Maria Dolores Dieguez, 27, in Tuscany, Italy over the summer (Aug09).
And just weeks after the wedding, the couple was rumoured to be expecting their first child following a report in British tabloid the Mail on Sunday.
Fiennes is adamant the rumours aren’t true, but he’s looking forward to having children in the future.
He tells Britain’s Now magazine, “No it isn’t (true). A newspaper said I made an announcement, which felt like I opened my French doors and said, ‘Ladies and gentleman, I just want you to know…’ But it just never happened. I’d love to have kids, I grew up in a large family.”
Daily Mail – September 6, 2009
Shakespeare In Love star Joseph Fiennes has announced he is to become a father for the first time.
The 39-year-old actor and his new wife, Swiss model Maria Dolores Dieguez, 27, who he married last month, issued a statement saying they are ‘utterly thrilled’.
A close friend said: ‘She’s three months pregnant. They kept the news quiet until Maria reached the three-month-mark but now they are telling everyone.’
Joseph, who is from Wiltshire, and Maria married in a religious ceremony in Tuscany last month in front of close friends and family.
It was in Italy that they first met four years ago, at a red carpet party.
Maria, a former Miss Switzerland contestant, wore a lace gown by Spanish designer Manuel Mota with a bateau neckline and a tulle veil for the ceremony.
Joseph – whose brother Ralph is also a famous actor – is believed to be taking some time out and clearing his busy schedule for the birth of his first child.
Since the beginning of the year the busy actor has been filming a series of movies back to back.
He just completed a guest role in sci-fi American TV drama Flash Forward and is set to star alongside actress Rosamund Pike in a movie about naturalist Charles Darwin.
Hello Magazine – August 31, 2009
Shakespeare In Love star Joseph Fiennes and his Swiss model love Maria Dieguez have wed in Italy, the country where they first met four years ago at a red carpet bash.
The couple, who live together in London, tied the knot in Tuscany in an intimate ceremony attended by close friends and family.
It’s not known if 39-year-old Joseph’s actor brother Ralph Fiennes was present at the nuptials.
Twenty-seven-year-old Maria, a former Miss Switzerland contestant of Spanish parentage, plighted her troth to her actor love during a religious ceremony.
She wore a lace gown by Spanish designer Manuel Mota with a bateau neckline and a delicate hand stitched tulle veil.
One almost expects a dynasty like the Fiennes family to live in a long-forgotten palace surrounded by a huge forest. But the centre of their world for the past decade has been a blushing pink town house in one of the prettiest towns in Suffolk. The area was once inhabited by cloth workers and sheep farmers. Huge churches were built on the proceeds of the wool trade, and the houses are ancient and often lopsided.
Caroline Fiennes opens the door with an easy friendliness and a sharply observant artist’s eye. She has a shock of white hair and cuts a tiny figure in this large house that unfolds like a magic box. There is a crimson, book-lined sitting room, a hall with an inglenook fireplace, brick-floored passageways leading hither and thither, and hidden rooms where jobs like laundry are done. “It is a unique house, a one-off,” says Caroline. “It was probably three workers’ cottages. Then they put on a Georgian front, and at the back were lots of outbuildings which we have converted.”
Channel Five has acquired FlashForward, the sci-fi drama starring British actors Joseph Fiennes and Jack Davenport that has been touted in the US as a successor to Lost.
